About the Avas

This part of the site is in development.

What is the AVA?
The Award for Vision and Achievement (AVA) recognizes individuals who envisioned a uniquely creative approach to a pressing social issue and achieved their vision in a way that engaged society. Their achievements make us so happy that we feel like dancing.

Why did the MHF create the AVA?
Founded to pursue justice on behalf of the community, the MHF is recognizing individuals who work with integrity and creativity to develop strategies that improve community well being. Their acts of the heart inspire people around the world to shake off apathy and alienation and take hopeful actions on behalf of a better world.

MHF inaugurated the AVAs to honor those who first conceive and then complete a successful social action that others can share, and in so doing create the picture of a just and fair society. The AVAs is not given annually. Instead, the AVA awards are scheduled when the MHF Board believes it has identified four individuals who meet criteria for this award.
